DRIVER TRAINING

SERVICE DESCRIPTION:Provides funding to complete a driver's education program. Covers the cost of the classroom and behind the wheel instruction that is required to take the driver's license exam.

HOW SERVICE IS PROVIDED:Online application

ELIGIBILITY:Eligible residents must have valid driver's permit.
Must be resident of Defiance, Fulton, Williams, Paulding, or Henry County, Ohio.
Qualify for Medicaid, on Medicaid, or demonstrated financial burden.
Only residents under the age of 21 may apply for this scholarship.

SERVICE HOURS:All training must be complete by June 30, 2026.

FEES:There is a $50 deposit required per participant; all other fees for the driver's education program will be paid by the DCGHD Drive to Succeed funding pending completion of all application requirements. The deposit should be paid to driving school prior to beginning classes.
If the student does not complete the driver's training appropriately, the student and/or legal guardian is responsible for the entire cost.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:All Verification of Eligibility Requirements* MUST be submitted via email to Katie Marbaugh at kmarbaugh@defiancecohealth.org within 7 DAYS after application submission to reserve your spot in line. If the documents are not received within 7 days of application submission, you will be placed on the waiting list. A legible emailed photo or screenshot of insurance card, attendance record, driver's permit, etc. is acceptable. Attendance can be found on PowerSchool or through an employer.
